BEF is a non-profit social enterprise, established to offer loans with loans up to £250,000 to small businesses (SMEs) and social enterprises across the North, aiding their growth, success, and impact on their local communities.
BEF are accredited by the British Business Bank to deliver Start Up Loans, Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund (NPIF) II Smaller Loans, and Government Growth Scheme (GGS). We also support social enterprises and charities via the Community Investment Enterprise Facility (CIEF).
Over the last 12 years BEF’s has invested £129.5m in lending, added £518m of value to the region’s economy, and created or safeguarded 17,610 jobs. But it's not all about the money – it’s about making real dreams come true, creating jobs, and changing communities for the better.
